Fourth 'Paranormal' is No. 1

Thursday, October 25, 2012

The fourth 'Paranormal' had claimed No. 1 the weekend it came out. This movie debuted with $30.2 million which was according to an estimate from the studio. The people who saw Paranormal was not as enthusiastic as they wanted to be, giving "Paranormal Activity 4" a C grade. This movie has received the poorest reviews of any of the "Paranormal" films, and it attracted a young audience.

This is important, because many people like horror/ suspense films, but if these films keep coming out to where people are giving them a C grade, then they will start watching other genre films. I chose this article, because I heard a lot about this movie. Many liked this film, but when I read this article, I was surprised. I didn't expect this movie to get low rated reviews. I would have thought this film would be the best of the four, since it was the fourth. This article caught my eye when I started reading about how the "Paranormal" series has appeared to have the potential of a long-running horror franchise like "Saw."

This article impacts me as a student, because if these horror films are becoming worse, I would definitely not want to waste my money on watching these films. As a future filmmaker, this definitely would impact me because if i was into making horror films, it would be much harder for the audience to come and watch my films if the horror films now that are coming out, are not as good and getting a C grade.

Questions that came up as I was reading this article was, Are they really going to continue with the "Paranormal Series" like "Saw" did? Why did this film receive poor reviews?
